In light of fast moving developments in the housing space TAHJ will be holding our general meeting tomorrow instead of our usual time next week. There are upcoming advocacy opportunities that we want to make sure you know about. 1) The Pima County Board of Supervisors will be voting on a 3 Cents for Affordable Housing proposal and 2) the City of Tucson Mayor & Council will be discussing their response to HB2721 the "Middle Housing" bill (passed in May 2024)

The City of Tucson Planning and Development Services Department (PDSD) engaged the Drachman Institute in the fall of 2024 to investigate options on how to respond to the passage of HB2721. HB2721 mandates municipalities in the State of Arizona to allow for up to 4 units and/or townhomes on parcels zoned for single family housing within a mile from the central business district. This bill was passed by the legislature and signed by Governor Hobbs on May 21, 2024. The City is required to have regulations supporting the requirements of the bill by January 2026.
