Tucson Alliance for Housing Justice General Meeting (Online)

September 26 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm MST

Greetings Housing Justice Community!

Save the date for the next General TAHJ Meeting online which is scheduled for:

With special guest Jason R Jurjevich from the Mapping Racist Covenants (MRC) Project

Topics:
1) The newly minted state law (SB 1432) goes into effect on 9/15, which makes it easier for homeowners, subdivisions, and HOAs to remove racist language from their covenants, conditions, and restrictions CCRs. Jason will help people look up their own addresses to see if their subdivision contains racist CCRs

2) The Sugar Hill Neighborhood Association is working to rename Mansfield Park the Doris J. Thompson Park, in honor of Ms. Thompson who was a civil rights leader and longtime Sugar Hill resident (https://www.kvoa.com/video/proposal-to-rename-mansfield-park/video_145d7abf-c014-5f7b-85d1-dd5c6c51370b.html). We will talk through the process of renaming public spaces and set aside a few minutes to draft letters of public comment.
Meeting Input: Do you have a quick update for your organization that you'd like to share either in this meeting or a future meeting? A question you would like the group to consider as a check-in or connection moment? Email us at: tucsonhousingjustice@gmail.com
